The final section of the M50 upgrade works, the N3 interchange, will be officially opened later today.
The 32km of motorway, which was met with a lot controversy and differing public opinion, from the M1 to the Sandyford interchange, were widened in the M50 upgrade, which began in 2006. The project staggering costs ran to just under €1bn but at that was below budget and finished ahead of schedule.
Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey will officially open the final section at 11am today.
